Methception 1.4: A New Level of Roleplay

Methception is a powerful preset designed to deepen and refine the capabilities of Mistral-based models. Built for templates like Metharme and models such as Drummers Behemoth 1.2, and MortalWombat's Monstral V2, Methception enhances every aspect of roleplay by focusing on details like spatial awareness, sensory input, emotional depth, and pacing.

This preset doesn’t just tweak how responses sound—it transforms how they feel. By balancing positive, neutral, and negative biases, characters gain a sense of real agency. Scenes develop naturally, with logical pacing and richer details that bring storytelling to life.

What’s New in Methception 1.4?

This update brings several key improvements, each designed to make roleplay even more engaging and immersive.

1. Added an Eighth Instruction for Context and Recall
The biggest change is the addition of an eighth instruction. This helps the AI review character cards and context for relevant links, improving its ability to recall and integrate information naturally into responses.

2. Strengthened the "Show, Don’t Tell" Philosophy
In Methception 1.4, I refined the instructions to lead by example. Within the instruction set itself, I demonstrated the "show, don’t tell" principle. For instance, in Instruction 8, I illustrated how to revisit earlier scenes, tying past context to present actions. This meta-approach not only clarifies the instructions but also provides a practical template for the AI to emulate. It’s a subtle but impactful way to improve how the model interprets and delivers nuanced roleplay.

3. Introduced the Last Assistant Prefix
To keep conversations consistent, I added a Last Assistant Prefix. This prompts the model to regularly revisit context and instructions, ensuring that its responses remain coherent, no matter where the story goes.

4. Improved Markdown Formatting
The template now features properly formatted markdown, including hashtags for clear organization and end marks to separate sections. This makes the instructions easier to follow and improves how the model processes the structure.
